Untame Your Year: Future Story 2022

Did you set some goals or intentions for 2022? Or, maybe you chose a word or phrase to help you focus this year. Maybe you didn’t do any of it because you feel stuck or just didn’t feel like it.  Remember, being an adult doesn’t need to be boring — and neither does this process!

Our beliefs are powerful, and the life story that plays over and over in our heads dictates our actions. So, writing your ideal story is a great way to change your beliefs and behaviors while also uncovering emotions that you might not know you had. For example, when I wrote my Future Story for 2022 – a lot came up about my feelings around COVID. It was enlightening, and I realized that I needed to let my negativity about it go so I could use that energy for more productive purposes.  I also need to start having more fun again.  I am done with the pillows, signs, and t-shirts that state, “stay home” or “peace, love, joy.”  I am all for being smart about COVID, but I am also ready for some fun and excitement.  So, enjoy this.  Be bold about what you want and start getting excited about life again.  It’s time to untame your future!

Coaching Tip: This futures coaching exercise is always a big hit with teams and groups because they can have some fun with it. I find that people bond when they can let loose and enjoy some time together while setting strategic directions for more prosperous futures.  You can do it together in a physical location or in an online setting.  Just make sure to incorporate some fun elements into the process.

It’s Time to Map Out Your Mini-Moonshots

A coaching client I worked with this morning was shocked at the fact that it is already January 7, 2022. The year will go by quickly for many of us – as will the next few!

Studies show that only about 15% of Americans have a plan for their lives. It’s time to change that!

Why? Because we create our future in the present moment through our beliefs, behaviors, and actions. Having a plan helps guide the thoughts that create our actions in the present while building the future.

Have you ever created a time capsule so you can look at it later and remember the past?  A Futures Capsule is designed to do the reverse – it helps us plan for the future.

Mapping out our desired Mini-Moonshots – our milestones, goals, and adventures – creates momentum through the process of dreaming, designing, and doing.

Wild Innovation is offering a free mini-course to help people create a Futures Capsule so they can intentionally design both the present and future.

This free course will help people take a look at the next four years of their lives and make a futures plan to 2025 – using the mini-moonshots – for each year. Enjoy the process, and let us know if you have any questions!

Time for a Road Trip!

I am flying again – to present a keynote in person, and I am so excited!! This talk will focus on how to lead like a futurist while also presenting information on some of the signs and signals impacting the healthcare industry.

If you are like me, it has been a while since I have flown the friendly skies-but I am also ready to get out there and be with people again. I love the ability to work with clients online; however, I really enjoy in-person interactions too!

I am so greatly to the Illinois Critical Access Hospital Network (ICAHN) for inviting me to be part of this exciting conversation. You can learn more about their work and the conference by visiting: https://icahn.org/

Losing Fred

I lost my dog three weeks ago. He was part of my life for more than 17 years! We actually decided to get a dog because we didn’t know if we wanted kids, so he was our first parent experience. Fred was really lonely when we were at work, so we found him a little brother. Barney joined our family a year later.

Losing Barney last year was really hard. Now that Fred is gone, the loss of both fur kids is almost unbearable. Do any of you have any resources for moving forward after the loss of a pet? I have found a few but need some more help with this. Anything you have found helpful would be greatly appreciated.

Much Love,

Dr. Connie

A Conversation about the Future and the Creative Society

I had the opportunity to chat with two hosts as part of AllatRa TV North America this morning. It was a fun and interesting conversation about the future of humanity, the planet, and prosperity. And, I had the pleasure of meeting two wonderful young leaders who are committed to making the future a brighter and more wonderful place for all people.

We talk about everything from the importance of being entrepreneurial and taking personal responsibility for your life to the need for a new system of education that is more accessible and affordable for everyone at any age. I really enjoyed exploring possibilities of a future filled with more personal fulfillment and fun as well as a healthier planet.

A portion of our interview touched on F*School – the Futures School for women that helps them design and achieve their personal, purposeful vision for the future.

Go Wild with Your Vision for a Better Future & Enjoy the Interview!

PS: They are always looking for more minds. If you would like to make a contribution, please contact them. One of the hosts will provide the details at the end of the conversation.

How to Create Your Purposeful Future with Dr. Connie

Being an Adult Doesn’t Have to Be Boring

When I work with leaders the issue of stress is front and center of many coaching conversations. Adults have a lot on their plates, and COVID-19 has made it much worse. Well-being is emerging as the #1 issue for workplaces because leaders are finally starting to realize that people-first strategies are what they need to be successful in the ever-changing marketplace. It is almost impossible to be creative or productive if you do not have your physical, mental, or emotional health.

This leadership coaching video explains some of the reasons why it is important to have fun and enjoy life – even if you have to make the time and an effort to do it!

You May Have Doubts

With all the stress that many of us have been under lately, you might be doubting the importance of fun, but let remind about a few “fun” facts:

  1. Fun is the ultimate stress-reliever
  2. Fun bonds people together
  3. Fun makes you more interesting
  4. Fun is the the ultimate Fountain of Youth

Try your own tests at home. I give my clients assignments to have fun all of the time. Why? Because it puts them in a stronger place to solve problems, work through challenges and develop creative solutions. Fun can also repair relationships.

Blue the Bee Learns to be Happy (free download)

A few colleagues and I published Blue the Bee Learns to Be Happy, an activity guide for happiness in 2018. It takes the science of happiness and turns it into games and tools designed to help increase levels of positivity. You can use it as an individual with your family or even with teams at work.

If you need more than the video or the book, please contact us for additional resources or personalized coaching. We are committed to helping 100,000 leaders create greater purpose and prosperity for people and our planet, and fun is one of the ways in which we are achieving this big, hairy, audacious goal!

Go Wild with Fun!
